why is grape juice always red or purple while the insides of grapes are green, every single time? It must have something to do with the colour of the skins.
this has been the most restful day i've had in a long time. i went to my place of worship, came home and napped, cleaned my kitchen, bathroom and hallways. napped some more. and since i woke up i've been reclining, snacking on delights, watching randomness on the internet and planning my day tomorrow.
Here's a question for you. Can straight people be "queer"?
Example: I have a hetero friend who dated a cross dresser for a long time.
What do you call a heterosexual person who identifies with queer politics?

But, as with Jennifer, I <3<3<3 meta-data. You can give things multiple labels, to fully describe the depth and span of any given thing's qualities!]

The term queer is usually used in reference to sexualities, gender identities and gender expressions that do not conform to the heteronormative ideal. So to me, people who are heterosexual but may practice BDSM, D/s, or polyamarous relationships are also "queering" sex politics. Queer is also sometimes used in critical race theory to refer to racial identities that do not fit the normative white standard, or those that challenge it.
I don't think it is a matter of whether or not WE think she is queer, but more so, if she feels queer.
These are the types of gray areas that make uniting a queer movement very hard. No one is sure who exactly belongs, who is queer and who is an ally, and what goals to work towards achieving.
In my GLBT Studies class we examined a group called the Man/Boy Love Association, who as a group consider themselves queer, not for the same sex aspect, but for the age variance and the stigmatization and even criminality these relationships face in society. To most of American this group of men would be a pedophile group, perverts, but then again... so were gays, lesbians, transgendered peoples, and those who engage in BDSM at some point all criminalized and all deviant perverts.
I actually just had that same convo with my genderqueer partner last night.
"Straight" people can be queer, easily. Whether it's through BDSM, non-monogoamy, etc (as Dylan points out), or through, for example, dating a transman. Or what if they're heterosexual, yet come from a queer political stance. Just because they don't have a queer orientation doesn't mean they don't have a queer mindset.
IMHO.
