from the book:

Lesbian women may be at higher risk for uterine, breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers (not only) because they are less likely to bear children; (but also because they) have higher rates of alcohol use, obesity, and poor nutrition; and are less likely to visit a health-care provider for routine screenings, such as a Pap test. And ... some lesbian women are at risk for many of the same STIs as heterosexual women.

What are you going to do to protect yourself? Why should we suffer later in life for our carelessness today?

I am probably all of the things they listed lesbians to be except obese, and that's just god's good graces with my genes. I try to eat decently, it doesn't work out. I haven't smoked for the past month, but I did, and probably will again. And I am never going to the gynecologist until my 'gina gets sick... because it just seems very heterosexual.

oh, but it's so important! There are some things that go wrong on the inside that you can't even see on the outside, and how will you know unless you see the gyno! it does kinda suck, though. i understand... ♥
